Thailand is one of Asia's busiest beauty markets. Its shelves mix local drugstore brands, herbal and spa lines and international names produced in the country, and many products are formulated for hot, humid climates — one reason Thai cosmetics sell well in Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Gulf. For distributors, online sellers and retailers, Thailand offers a wide assortment that can be bought in mixed wholesale orders.
What you can source
- Skincare — serums, face creams, cleansers and sunscreens.
- Body care — body lotions, body wash, scrubs and bar soaps.
- Makeup — lip and cheek colour, brow products, powders and setting products.
- Hair care — shampoos and treatments, including herbal formulas.
- Fragrance — perfumes and body mists.
Branded stock or your own brand?
There are two routes. Wholesale means buying finished, branded products to resell — the fastest way to test a market. Private label (OEM/ODM) means a Thai manufacturer produces a formula under your brand, which takes longer but builds an asset you own. Many buyers start with branded stock and move to private label once they know what sells. Our guide to Thai OEM cosmetics covers the second route.
What to check before you order
- Registration in your market. Cosmetics are regulated differently in each country — many require a product notification or registration by the local importer before sale. Confirm the requirements with your regulator or customs broker before you buy.
- Labels and language. Some products carry Thai-only labels. Ask whether export packaging exists or whether you will need to add a local sticker.
- Ingredient lists. Request the full ingredient list for each product; you will usually need it for registration and for checking restricted ingredients.
- Shelf life. Ask about expiry dates at the time of shipment when you receive the quotation, especially for slow-moving items.
- Claims on the pack. Words used on Thai packaging may not be allowed in your market. Check claims such as whitening or medical-sounding wording before importing.
Building a mixed first order
Resellers often start with a mixed order across several categories — for example body lotions, sunscreens, lip colour and soaps — to see which lines move fastest. Ask the supplier how products are packed (inner boxes, cartons) and whether mixed cartons are possible; quantities and prices are confirmed in the quotation.
Understanding prices
Prices on THAIMOST are indicative wholesale prices, shown in Thai baht with an approximate US dollar value. Your final quote depends on quantities, packing and destination. Compare the landed cost — product, freight, duties, registration and local labelling — rather than the unit price alone. Our FOB vs CIF primer explains the trade terms.
