The main product families
- Coconut milk & cream — UHT cartons, cans, retail and food-service sizes; specify fat content (e.g. light vs. full-fat cream), stabilisers allowed or not, and shelf life.
- Coconut water — 100% natural, from concentrate or not, UHT/aseptic or HPP; packaging in Tetra Pak, PET or cans.
- Virgin coconut oil (VCO) and RBD coconut oil — cold-pressed/centrifuged VCO for food and cosmetics; RBD for cooking and industrial use. Ask for free fatty acid, moisture and peroxide values.
- Coconut sugar / nectar — popular in natural-sweetener and organic channels.
- Desiccated coconut, coconut flour, coconut chips/snacks — dry goods with simpler logistics.
- Coconut by-products — coir fibre, coco peat, activated carbon and shell charcoal for agriculture and industry.
Specifications to put in your RFQ
State the product form, packaging format and size, private label or supplier brand, target market, required shelf life, certifications, estimated monthly volume and Incoterm. For beverages and milk, ask whether the plant is aseptic/UHT capable and what minimum run per SKU applies.
Certifications buyers typically request
GMP and HACCP are standard for Thai food plants; many exporters also hold ISO 22000, BRCGS or FSSC 22000, and Halal certification for Muslim markets. For organic coconut lines request EU/USDA organic certificates and, if you sell in the US, confirm FDA facility registration. Kosher is available from some plants.
Packaging and logistics notes
Liquids (milk, water) are heavy — quotes per container and pallet configuration matter. Oil ships in drums, IBCs, flexitanks or retail jars; sugar and desiccated coconut in bags or cartons. Ask the supplier for the typical quantity per 20-foot and 40-foot container for your chosen pack.
Sample and test
Always request samples of the exact SKU and check taste, colour, separation (for milk), and lab parameters against the spec sheet. Agree the spec sheet as part of the contract.
